On Monday,
October 8th, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Shea Theatre on the
Ammerman Campus in Selden, there will be a free presentation of the award
winning Irish film, Condemned to Remember. The screening is
cosponsored by the Honors College, the Ammerman Office of Student Activities,
the Center for Social Justice and Human Understanding, and the Ammerman Social
Science Department. The film is produced by RTE (Ireland’s national
television and radio broadcaster) and directed by Gerry Gregg (often described
as “Ireland’s Ken Burns.”) The film is a documentary concerning
Europe’s handling of the refugee crisis and stars Holocaust survivor Tomi
Reichental (also known for the documentary Close to Evil) and how he is condemned
to remember his own childhood at the hands of the Nazis. It is a
powerful film and both Gregg and Reichental will be present at the screening to
answer questions from the audience.
All
students, faculty, staff, and the general community are welcome to attend.
