One of the more fascinating studies in Psychology has been
memorialized in the Hollywood film “The Stanford prison Experiment. “ An
excellent extra credit opportunity is to watch this film, find one
peer-reviewed article about it, and discuss your feelings regarding it.
Given what a large impact this study has had on the field,
it also could be a perfect topic for the research paper for Psy 101. . If you decide to pursue it
as such, please follow all the assignment requirements as outlined on the

AN EXCELLENT OPPORTUNITY AT STONYBROOK UNIVERSITY
In Recognition of
World Suicide Prevention Day
Suicide Prevention
Coalition of LI and RESPONSE of Suffolk County, Inc
Present
“Here One Day”
Followed by a Q&A
with Producer and Director, Kathy Leichter.
Thursday September 10, 2015 5:30 pm – 8:00 pm
Wang Center Theater
-- Stony Brook University
When
filmmaker Kathy Leichter moved back into the apartment she grew up in after her
mother’s suicide, she discovered a hidden box of audiotapes. Sixteen years
passed before she had the courage to delve into this trove, unearthing details
that her mother had recorded about every aspect of her life from the challenges
of her marriage to a New York State Senator, to her son’s estrangement, to the
highs and lows of living with bipolar disorder. HERE ONE DAY is a visually
arresting, emotionally candid film about a woman coping with mental illness,
her relationships with her family, and the ripple effects of her suicide on
those she loved.
“Here One
Day” provides an incredible opportunity for our community to come together and
discuss personal and professional experiences, to trade resources and
information, to learn, support, grow and heal.
Come experience this beautiful work of art and join in much-needed community
conversation.
Open to the University
community and to the public
Doors open at 5:30 and event
begins promptly at 6:00pm

Registration is required
